The FLYY Smell of Sweet S-U-C-C-E-S-S…
With so much success around us, it is simply impossible to fail. I have decided that I want something different, so I find that I am constantly generating different thoughts. And those thoughts are prompting more thoughts which are being reflected through my actions. It’s the proverbial “Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Life” scenario, and I see my new life unfolding slowly right before my eyes.
Take today for example. I absolutely abhor the pairing of navy blue with black, and for years I never gave it a thought…that is, until today!!! This morning I felt an urge to wear navy blue and black, so I did. Using my favorite new necklace as the base, I paired a fitted navy blue dress with a black tailored ruffled jacket, my Soo FLYY Sincerely CoCo beads blended with a few other bracelets, black tassel earrings and my classic 5 inch platform stilettos and I headed out on my FLYY little way. The funny thing is I found myself in conversations that led to me establishing three new contacts that would be great for business. And this was all based on changing my thoughts and trying something new. Again “Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Life”!!!
This brings me to a few well known folks who are very successful and are great examples of what it looks like when failure is not an option…
Take Oprah for example, do you realize that she comes from humble beginnings, but is listed on the Forbes 400 list??? I mean she has built an empire, maintained her integrity, stayed true to herself and is now a billionaire.

Next up is Jay-Z. I mean, what more can I say??? Do you realize that he contributes so much to pop-culture that Oprah interviewed him. And you know Oprah does not do rappers. Jay-Z not only secured the interview, he also managed to have “Oprah chillin in the projects. Had her out in Bed-Stuy chillin on the steps, drinking quarter waters…”

Did I mention that he’s “got Obama on the text”. I mean really, if that’s not successful, I’m not sure what is! Again, Jay-Z came into the world as Shawn Corey Carter, just a regular Joe. But he had vision. He was able to see past his beginning in order to move in a direction which formulated a very lucrative ending!
It’s not about political affiliation, but about achievement appreciation. Do you realize that Jay-Z hob knobs with the President of the whole and entire United States of America??? The President is quoted as saying “Jay knows what my life is like. We both have daughters and our wives are more popular than we are.” Can you imagine THE PRESIDENT is that cool with you that he shortens your nickname to “Jay”!!!! I Love It!!! Really though, how real is that…
And speaking of rappers, I must mention Onika Maraj. You may know her as Nicki Minaj. She has single handedly taken the rap game by storm. She’s proven that she can not only hold her own by delivering a more than hot 16 bars, but she actually demolishes the guys’ verses with whom she appears, in the songs. She sat front row at the Oscar de la Renta show with esteemed fashion heavy weight, the legendary Anna Wintour. She has her own Giuseppe Zanotti sneaker, and most recently, she’s released a new fragrance called Pink Friday!

Yesterday, I turned 35 years old, and I can definitely tell that I am in a different place than I was just two days ago. I’m thinking different thoughts. I’m recognizing existing opportunities and removing fear so that I may create new ones. I am inspired to greatness by those examples that are around me. I am surrounding myself with a circle that is already successful in the arena that I am seeking to enter. Clearly, I have just stepped onto the path that will lead me to the FLYY smell of sweet success. And yes, this definitely SLAAYS ME!

I’ve been on a serious Pursuit of Flyyness!!! So much so, that this week’s edition of UpOnFLYYDotCom is jam packed with every single thing that simply SLAAYS ME! It’s like every time I’d find one thing that I adored, something just as spectacular would show up…
First up, was June Ambrose, at the New York Screening of her new show “Styled by June”, which premiered last night, (Monday, March 19th), on VH1! I simply ADORE June Ambrose! She is THE Celebrity Stylist whose taste making has changed the dress of Hip Hop…FOREVER! Her style is impeccable, and believe me when I tell you: SHE IS SOO FLYY!

So, after that huge high octane fashion rush that I’ve listed above, I began to think of other ways that the regular person could go about getting noticed. If not for their insane fashion sense, then maybe for their immeasurable talent doing something else. I mean really, lots of everyday people are acheiving their dreams each day, and they need to get noticed NOW. And the best way to get your business or product noticed is by enlisting the services of a marketing or public relations team. There are two things that absolutely SLAAYED ME, this week!!!
First up, is this picture of celebrity stylist June Ambrose at the “Styled By June” New York Screening. I love Love LOVE June Ambrose!!! She truly changed the image of rap music by introducing hip hop heavyweights to looks that departed from the familiar baggy jeans, super large tees and sneakers. She’s single-handedly crafted the personal styles of Jay-Z, Mary J. Blige, Kelly Ripa and Sean “Diddy” Combs. She also is the person who put Missy Elliott in that black Glad bag she wore in the I Can’t Stand the Rain video!!! (Click the flyyTunes tab to see the video!)
